Could you use a good dose of hope in this new year?
Political divisiveness, economic inflation, cancer, mental and physical health issues, dementia affecting those we love—issues abound that threaten our hope and joy.
But as we enter a new year, I want to remind you to place your hope where it can never be lost, broken, or stolen. Put your hope in God—not in what He will do for you or your loved ones, but in WHO HE IS. As you do, you will experience hope (and even joy!) regardless of what’s happening around you. That’s because Scripture tells us He is the God of hope and hope doesn’t disappoint.
Romans 15:13 tells us: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” And Romans 5:5 assures us: “hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (NASB).
I encourage you to connect more closely with God so you will trust Him with your hope. You can do this through:
- daily worship
- regular time in His Word
- communing with Him throughout the day
My new easy-to-read devotional book, The New Loneliness Devotional: 50 Days to a Closer Connection with God, is one way to start doing that as you kick off a new year. This hardcover gift book is less than $10 now on Amazon.
I hope to be a part of your new year as we spend time together through the pages of this devotional.
Here’s to our hope that will never disappoint!
