Try This Remedy When You’re Running on Empty

If you’re like most women, chances are you often feel like you’re running on empty. And the problem is that chocolate, bubble baths, a shopping trip to the mall, or a long massage are only temporary ‘fixes.’

Most of the time that we run on empty it’s because we haven’t recharged our soul. When we’re dry and empty spiritually, it can affect how we feel physically.

I recently found a wonderful soul-charging remedy that’s available to all of us. It’s in an age old book that we call the Bible.

Psalm 119 says (verses 7-8, emphasis added):

“The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

Now, if something were available to you that revives, you, gives you wisdom, brings joy to your heart, and brightens your eyes, all in one package or pill, wouldn’t you want to get a hold of it and take it on a daily basis? We all need revival, wisdom, joy and enlightenment. And God’s Word actually contains all that, with the potential to work like a daily does of vitamins for the mind, body and soul.

The Bible also tells us (in Second Timothy 3:16) that all Scripture is “God-breathed.” Think about that: Reading the Bible is like getting a breath of fresh air from the living God! It’s like getting a second wind from God.

Are you getting your daily does of revival, wisdom, joy and enlightenment by reading the Word of God? Are you coming to His Word on a regular basis to get your second wind from the One who not only breathed His power into His Word but can breathe life and energy into your tired, burnt out soul?

Longer lasting than chocolate, more penetrating than a massage and more fulfilling than a shopping spree, the Word of God provides all we need to get through the day.

Make getting into God’s Word part of your daily routine and you may find yourself singing as the Psalmist did: “I have God’s more-than-enough, more joy in one ordinary day than they get in all their shopping sprees.” (Psalm 4:7, The Message)
